Donate
LMP’s
activities are primarily funded by donations from individuals and
charitable trusts. Here are four good reasons why a donation is good value?
1/ Your money goes a very long way. Over 90% of LMP’s
resources are
used in Malawi. In the UK our only cost ( but vital) is a Coordinator for one day a week.
2/ Our projects really WORK. This is because they are devised and implemented
at the grass roots by local people who themselves see the benefit. As such they are consistent with local cultural practices, which coupled with our long-term holistic strategy builds confidence, trust and success.
3/ LMP has an excellent reputation on Likoma for its services and its job creation. In June 2008 LMP employed 76 people in Likoma district, which has only 200 formal sector jobs outside LMP. We have also helped create 20 jobs by village community projects we have already set-up, and regularly employ temporary labour. While most salaries are low
they provide income and security for families with no other source of income.
4/ In the long-term, the dissemination of skills and confidence has
an even larger impact than the projects themselves as people are able to take
more control of their lives and gain crucial skills in planning, management
and representation. This takes time, but this really is
empowerment, And we are in for the long haul.
